Valkyrie

A mentorship program designed to empower aspiring creative professionals, particularly those who don’t see themselves represented in leadership positions. I developed the concept of Valkyrie as part of my graduate thesis project at Suffolk University.

Deliverables: Brand identity, print and digital promotional graphics, merchandise, large-scale environmental graphics, presentation slide decks, motion graphics

You Can’t Be What You Can’t See

Like many other industries, the graphic design industry has a problem with “historical amnesia.” It’s rare to see women, non-binary, trans, and BIPOC creatives celebrated in our textbooks or in university curriculums, despite their great contributions to this field. Without inclusive representation, young creatives can develop serious “imposter syndrome” and struggle to picture themselves at the top—after all, you can’t be what you can’t see.

THE MISSION: To inspire and empower the next generation of creatives to pursue leadership positions confidently and joyfully. Through organizing mentorship opportunities, sharing educational tools, and hosting a series of lectures & workshops, Valkyrie aims to build a community of support to help aspiring creatives thrive.

Graduate Thesis Exhibition

Here’s how I exhibited “Valkyrie” at the Suffolk University Graduate Thesis exhibition in August of 2019 (and yes, I did build that triangular table myself!). That’s me and my dad, below (top left).
